About

Food Nerd, Writer, Designer, and Creative Tinkerer; Hi, I’m Angela.

Once called the ‘Muppeteer’ behind Trader’s Joe’s punchy slogans and signs, I have spent over a decade applying creative solutions and design thinking to build brands and strategic marketing plans with leaders in the independent grocery business. My successes in the food industry and community outreach have led me to explore working in not-for-profit communications. Ultimately, no matter the project, my underlying personal goal is to partner with companies and organizations to create meaningful change for our communities.

As a persistent project manager and avid researcher, I have developed a broad portfolio of skills born out of the necessity to pursue marketing initiatives in start-up environments. My success has given me a reputation among my peers for being didactic and a knowledgable resource for all facets of strategic marketing and brand building. Over the years, it has been my pleasure to be mentored by and mentor extremely talented individuals. There is nothing more rewarding than building successful campaigns through effective teamwork and collaboration.

My recent move to the Shield Institute has given me experience in Government Relations, Fundraising, Board Management, Not-for-profit Journalism, and Inter-Agency Communications. Recently, our team acquired 1.1 Million Dollars in city-funded grants to expand services for people with i/dd. This achievement will be all the more impactful in the wake of the COVID 19 pandemic. It has been an honor to give an authentic voice to relief efforts and campaigns on behalf of an agency that is doing so much good!
